It is going to be a battle worth a watch as three biggies are all set to clash on the Republic Day weekend. Amitabh Bachchan's Rann, Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots and Ranbir Kapoor’s Rajneeti are slated now to release on January 22nd 2010.
Ramu’s Rann was earlier planned for October 2nd release date but following the censorship issues about his Jana Gana song he seems to have decided to push the release ahead. Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots starring Aamir, Kareena Kapoor, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi was slated for a December 25th 2009 release date but again with the dates shuffling post the two months strike, it won’t be possible for Aamir to make a Christmas Day hat-trick.
Rajneeti on the other hand was always slated for a January 22nd release date. This Prakash Jha film is carrying excellent reports and also stars Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar and Arjun Rampal in it.
Another trade analyst says, “Though they may clash into each other, with the extended weekend they would get with the Republic Day holiday each one will manage to get their required space. But what a feast it would be for the audience!”
These are two superstars who haven't teamed up at all. Aishwarya Rai who made a guest appearance in Mela (2000) is seen here with Aamir Khan, the star of the film. This picture was shot on the sets of the film that eventually failed to work at the box office. Aamir-Ash were later supposed to star in a full-length movie. Find out why they never did.
Mela may have bombed at the box office. But it is the only film so far to have these two stars in it, even if it is for a short time.
The two were to star together in The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey. In fact Aishwarya Rai had even agreed in principle to do the film
Ash requested that her role be reworked a bit. Director Ketan Mehta (who was also to work on another project with her) apparently agreed and promised to get back to her.
Ash was not happy about it and eventually she bowed out of the project, wished Aamir all the best... and hasn't worked with him so far
She is one of Bollywood's leading actresses and turns 27 Saturday. But Priyanka Chopra says she is not a party animal and would like to just have a quiet birthday with her near and dear ones.
"I'm not a big party person and I don't like throwing parties at all. So this time a lot of my family members have decided to fly down to be with me, " Priyanka told over e-mail from Mumbai.
"It's likely to be a day spent doing nothing in particular - just hanging out with the people who love me and want to be around me to make my day special. That's all, " she added.
Priyanka has had a fulfilling year with two hits "Fashion" and "Dostana", which fetched her lots of awards.
She is entering a new year in her life, but hasn't set any goals for herself.
"I've never set any goals for myself. I've always been destiny's child and destiny has always looked after me. I think someone up there always manages my life and does what's best for me. So I just leave it up to Him. I just work hard at what he sends my way, " she said.
Currently, Priyanka is busy shooting for Yash Raj Films' "Pyaar Impossible" along with Uday Chopra and Dino Morea.
The actress is also looking forward to the release of Vishal Bharadwaj's "Kaminey" with Shahid Kapoor and Ashutosh Gowariker's "What's Your Rashee?" in which she plays 12 different roles.
Two back-to-back flops and Harman Baweja seems to be creating insecurity even for his female co-stars!
It is learnt that Genelia D’ Souza who stars opposite Harman in Anees Bazmee directed It’s My Life is trying her best to not have this film as her next release. She is wanting her Shahid Kapoor starrer Yahoo to come before It’s My Life.Our source says, “Genelia D’Souza has had a bumper hit last year in Aamir Khan produced Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. But post that she has mostly been seen in TV commercials rather than feature films.
She knows it well that the Shahid Kapoor film will create a bigger buzz and get her the publicity she needs, rather than a Harman starrer.
And then of course Shahid Kapoor is also supposed to be sizzling hot property after Kaminey. That’s why Genelia is trying every trick in the book to delay It’s My Life.”
“She dily dallied allotting dates for the patchwork of It’s My Life and now she is not being co-operative for giving her dates for its dubbing.
The matter seems to be going out of hand with Anees Bazmee apparently even threatening to get a professional dubbing artist dub instead of her if she doesn’t co-operate soon. But little does he know what her real reason is!” the source further adds.
Last heard, Genelia is said to have fallen sick! That means more wait for the It’s My Life makers.
