Harbhajan Singh, whose five-for won India a tense game against South Africa, has said their hunger to retain the No.1 ranking motivated them in their spirited comeback in Kolkata after an innings-defeat in the first Test in Nagpur. "We wanted to be at the top of the table; we know we have the players to keep being No 1," Harbhajan said after the game. "We are very happy and it's fantastic to win the way we did. The heart was pumping in the end."
Harbhajan, who has a tremendous record at the Eden Gardens with 46 wickets in seven Tests at 21.76, kept picking wickets at crucial moments for India amid a determined South African resistance led by Hashim Amla's heroic, unbeaten 127. His effort was significant, for India were without Zaheer Khan, who pulled his muscle to be ruled out of the Test as well as the subsequent ODI series.
"This was probably a better wicket than Nagpur. We played fantastic cricket , the way we bowled on the first day and the way we batted. Today we just bowled with three bowlers but have done the job," Harbhajan said. "Eden has been special to me. I don't know what it but I have done well here always."
Hashim Amla, adjudged both man of the match and of the series, ended up unbeaten on 123. "I am feeling tired," he said after the game. "I am very disappointed in losing this game. We could have saved it; there wasn't anything unplayable in the wicket."
Amla's vigil - he batted for more than six hours - ended when Morkel was out after a last-wicket stand lasting more than 20 overs. "Morne and I were just having some fun out there. He played really well and so did Parnell earlier. Fortunately, Morne and Parnell are decent batsmen and took lots of pressure of me."
Amla ended the series with 490 runs, and one dismissal, and was the most influential batsman on either team. "I am being just grateful that I have had a good tour," he said. "I now have the one-dayers to look forward to."
The decision comes despite much discontentment in the party over election tickets for sons and daughters of senior leaders. Shekhawat's is one of 159 names that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has now cleared; others include sons of Vilasrao Deshmukh, Vilas Muttemmwar, Narayan Rane and Patangrao Kadam, and the daughter of Sushil Kumar Shinde.
Shekhwat's ticket was the biggest challenge for the Congress high command, because Sunil Deshmukh, the sitting MLA from Amravati, is a minister and also a two-time winner. Deshmukh has now turned rebel and will contest against Shekhawat.
"I am disappointed with the Congress leadership. I thought good sense would prevail. It appears there was a lot of pressure from Rashtrapati Bhawan," he said after the announcement.
Deshmukh has been the Amravati MLA for 10 years now. He has been credited with a lot of work in the constituency.
Earlier in the day, a disturbed Deshmukh told NDTV, "The only reason for him to get ticket is that he is the son of an influential family. I will be a sad and shocked man if Congress doesn't nominate me."
Aishwarya Rai is one of the 100 most beautiful women according to a list published by Harper's and Queen Magazine.
The Bollywood beauty is ranked ninth, while Hollywood hottie Angelina Jolie has topped the chart, The News reports. Supermodel Christy Turlington followed Jolie.
Another gorgeous woman in the list was Queen Rania of Jordan, apart from other luminaries.
John Abraham's love for bikes is well-known but his lady love, actress Bipasha Basu, doesn't like riding pillion with him for that very reason.
"Bipasha doesn't like sitting on my bike because I am very passionate and possessive about my bike. When she sits, I keep saying 'I hope you don't leave a scratch on the bike and all that', so that's why she prefers a car to sitting behind me in a bike, " John told reporters here during an event.
Yuvraj's absence presents challenges to a batting line-up struggling to cope with Virender Sehwag's unavailability and the failures of Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina. Rahul Dravid was recalled as a result of those problems, and his role grows in stature with the current crisis. There has been a pattern to India's innings since Sehwag's injury: Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir are solid at the top, MS Dhoni anchors the innings during the middle overs, while Yuvraj provides firepower to propel India to a strong total. That will now have to change.
Yuvraj's injury is likely to most affect Dhoni. Of late Dhoni has adopted a more sedate approach and has almost cut out his big shots. It could be said that even when Dhoni tried to play big shots during the final overs of ODIs, and in tournaments like the World Twenty20 and IPL, he could not pull them off consistently. However, with Yuvraj in the team, Dhoni could play the anchoring role, which he has done brilliantly. Time and again he promoted himself, especially when India made a good start, to steer the side through the middle overs, allowing Yuvraj to flex his muscles at the end.
That worked like a charm but it may change now. Dhoni could be forced to do what he has given up, turning the clock back and playing the aggressive shots that captured the imagination of his fans. It will be intriguing to see what route he takes: Will he bat at No 4 and leave the attacking roles to his younger team-mates, or will he take it up himself?
Dhoni's re-adjustment process could be helped by the presence of Dravid, whose much-discussed - and in some quarters much criticised - comeback couldn't have been timed better. Dravid can play the anchoring role, one that obviously suits him, and it might help him as well. He might have been under pressure earlier to increase the run-rate but now his role will be to bat through the innings. Dravid normally starts slowly but by the end of his innings his strike-rate is usually acceptable. Now, he can afford to start slowly without the added pressure.
Yuvraj's injury could also affect Tendulkar's role. With Dravid at No. 3 and Yuvraj to come, Tendulkar, as he showed recently in Sri Lanka, started to bat more fluently at the top. Because Dravid's strike-rate was likely to be low at the start of the innings, Tendulkar had to bat positively to seize the momentum. But now with Yuvraj missing, will he feel he has to bat through the innings? Will it hamper his fluency?
The good news is that Kohli, Yuvraj's replacement in the squad, is in fine form. He scored 398 runs at an average of 66.33, with two hundreds and two fifties, in the Emerging Players tournament in Australia and is a genuine talent in limited-overs cricket. Kohli was unfairly bracketed as a Twenty20 player; his skills are actually more suited to the 50-over format. He is not a power hitter in the conventional sense, he likes to take his time to settle down but possesses the shots to dictate terms later. Along with Dravid, he can be expected to take the lead during the middle-overs and allow Dhoni, Raina and Yusuf Pathan freedom during the final overs.
Ironically, even if India can compensate for Yuvraj's batting skills, they are likely to miss his left-arm spin. He has taken 12 wickets at 30.91 this year and Dhoni has increasingly used him in ODIs. He has allowed India to get away with just one regular spinner in Harbhajan Singh and his absence is likely to upset the balance of the team.
B-Town has recently seen a flood of firangis making their way into films. Nothing seems to be stopping them then be it the language, the culture difference or the climatic conditions.In-fact, firag face gives a film an edge over others films, considering the fact- Indians even today are crazy for firangi- divas.
Giselle Monteiro:Someone who recently joined this bandwagon is Brazilian girl Giselle Monteiro who was kept under wraps by filmmaker Imtiaz Ali before the release of Love Aaj Kal. Giselle Monteiro started her modeling career at the age of seventeen. This pretty girl is just one film old with Love Aaj Kal, where she donned the character of old- fashioned Harleen Kaur with such perfection that she would give a run-for-money to any bolly-actresses today in Bollywood.
Let’s peep into the past and list down some fair-skinned-divas who have given some surprisingly amazing performances.
Tania Zaetta: The sensational Baywatch and Pizza Porn star Tania Zaetta is an Australian who made her first special presence in Yash Raj’s Bunty Aur Babli. And there seems to be no end to her Bollywood career, because unlike other divas she continued her B-Town journey with yet another Yash Raj venture Salaam Namaste, where she was paired with Arshad Warsi and Deepak Shivdasani’s Mr. Black and Mr. White.Shannon Esrechowitz: Beginning with I Dreamed of Africa, Shannon proved her actress prowess with award- winning performances in films like Dorothy Ann Gould's production Japes and Hard Copy, which gave her an edge over others. Rachel Shelley: An ultra-ravishing Rachel Shelly too had a big career in television before she stepped into Bollywood with Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Lagaan- Once Upon A Time In India.Elizabeth Russell, the British princess falls in love with Bhuvan (Aamir Khan) who heads the team of Indians that got to win a cricket match again British to save a lagaan or tax. However, her break-off with Saif triggered her desire and eventually she was seen in a sizzling item number in Kamal Khan’s Desh Drohi. Rozza has couple of movies in her kitty like Ek Second... Jo Zindagi Badal De and Monopoly- The Game of Money, which are on a verge of release.
Rang De Basanti: The title track of the film 'Rang De Basanti' evoked just the kind of fervour and patriotic spirit, that infused the youth and evoking in them the feeling of patriotism.
Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo: The song sung by Lata Mangeshkar commemorates the Indian soldiers who died during the Sino-Indian War. The song stands as a rhythym most people have grown up humming. From the simplicity of the lyrics to the catchy tune and the voice of Lata Mangeshkar, everything in the track makes it a classic hit.

Jana Gana Mana By A.R. Rahman:
When all I asked was how would she describe her 'Date' with me? But it's not long before the next one. I observe the ex-Miss World laugh out loud while she sees my face drop. "I'm just kidding. Kaminey isn't a swear word. It's just like calling someone stupid. It's fun.
Ex-Miss World and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra invites us for a rare interview at her house. But what she didn't see coming was her surprise 'date' in the form of Devansh Patel.
We are sitting in her posh Mumbai apartment where she is briefed about my surprise visit. She comes near me, a familiar handshake and recalls the last time we met. "When was the last time we met Devansh?"
I put on my thinking cap and say, "We met at Cineworld Feltham, London, during your Love Story 2050 première." I take out my first surprise for her. A laminated full page review of her film Fashion which appeared in 'Observer' last year.In a second she said, "I remember talking with you after you saw Fashion in London. Yes, I do now properly. Thank you for this."
There is something quite feline about Priyanka Chopra. When I talk about her work, she purrs. No, not literally - that would be weird - but she speaks easily, and appears content and relaxed.
When I attempt to steer the conversation towards her life outside work, the claws come out. In a very good-natured, playful way, it has to be said.
At times the interview feels like a sparring match and she gives as good as she gets, if not better. This is our third meeting and it's not that she's not polite, smiley, gorgeous. Her smile is sort of impenetrable. It's a smile that puts me in my place and allows me to surprise her with a 'date' gift I got for her. She accepts it and rips the gift wrap. That's how she likes it.
"That's how I am. I like tearing things apart", she says. "Wow. That's a beautiful looking candle stand and it matches my walls too. I should say you've got a good taste. It looks so pretty." "Thank you Priyanka. I'm glad you liked it and I knew you would."
Now that was me being an optimist. I add, "I like the way your house is touched up. It's a cool mix of everything. Right from contemporary to traditional." She replies, "I told my friend Suzanne Roshan (Hrithik Roshan's wife) the kind of house I wanted. I like a lot of space and corners in my house.
Where we are just seated is one of my favourite cosy corners. There is a music room which is another corner. I like it opulent and yet understated, which is why the chandeliers. The colours are very muted but still has the splashes of red", she explains.
I was a male journalist who had fallen under the spell of this starlet and somehow imagined that there is something nicely unstarry about her. "Nobody ever asks me out on a date. I don't know why. It ends up being like someone saying - 'Ok then, we'll see each other sometime'."
She adds, "Can I tell you how I'd like my ideal date to be?" "Of course yes", is my answer. Chopra reveals, "I'd like it to be highly romantic in a mushy kind of a way. But it has to be done originally. It can't be the flowers, the cakes, the chocolates, the champagne, the limo, oh no.
" I get a bit cheeky and continue from where she ends. "Nor the candle stand." But Priyanka pulls it off well. She laughs. "Let me clear the air. Candles are good. Food is good too. But my date has to involve music, dancing and someone who can really look in my eyes deeply."
"How about him being a bit Kamina?" I dare to ask her. Chopra takes it in her stride. "I like it a little bad too. It's fun." It was time to impress. "I'd love to cook something for you Priyanka. It is quite de-stressful." For Priyanka, cooking a full meal isn't very 27 at all. "Well then, this is the perfect date. It's so good because I hate cooking.
You see, I'm a very moody person. There has to be something that keeps my attention as my attention span is very short. Movies, sleeping, reading and music are highly therapeutic for me. I can blast music in my ears, look out of my window and relax." For not having taken a single day off since the last six years shows Priyanka's passion more than commitment towards her work. So in order to keep things as they are for her, I request the actor to recommend five films worth a watch for her worldwide audience this summer.
Pat comes the reply, "Five is too little a choice you've given me because I can go on and on. I love mushy movies." I hold on to the word 'mushy' she uses quite often in our conversation. "Do you like mushy peas too?"
"No. But I like boiled peas with butter on top with some salt and pepper. That's delicious." Back to the movies. "I highly recommend Jerry Maguire, Motorcycle Diaries, Omen, Breakfast at Tiffany's and the famous Bollywood classic romance Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge."
She adds, "For me, I'd like to go and watch Hangover. I still haven't managed to go to the theatres and see it." "Good for me that my date is at this hour or else it would've been in a dark corner of some theatre", I joke. She laughs.
We all do, and just before we break our conversation into films, I ask her, "I just can't understand why a 'date' is a man's prerogative?" The cat pounces.
"It will always be a woman's prerogative. Do not even try and change that. The guy will ask her out and the guy will come and pick her up. We like our chivalry. As much as we know we are better species, do not do it. That's just how it is. My man's got to know where he wants to take me.
Let him toil over it and go through the pain of trying to figure out where he should take me. I wouldn't want it any other way."Priyanka Chopra has moved from rom-com success to weightier drama and back. But it's hard work telling when the acting stops and the real Priyanka Chopra starts. She has developed a relationship with all that is magnetic, robust, and stealthy.
She's got something so special that movie moguls everywhere want to bank it and people everywhere want to treasure it. She has got what it takes to be the best date: a good smile, and an even better attitude. I wouldn't want it any other way.
The ever rocking 45-days of Twenty20 cricket league would be hosted by Hyderabad. It would commence on 12-March-’10 and last till 25-Apr-09, as announced by IPL chairman Lalit Modi after a meeting with governing council on Tuesday. The 8 teams owned by all riches will play more matches than previous 2 seasons.
As per Lalit Modi; Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Nagpur and Vishakhapatnam will be the 4 additional match staging centers. And will also stage one extra match, the 60th.

The first 2 days (12th and 13th March) of IPL 2010 will collide with final stages of Hockey’s world cup, to be held in New Delhi. Organizers of 2010 Hockey World Cup fear that their final day might go virtually unnoticed.
Just after 5 days of end of this IPL season, the world Twenty20 will open at Caribbean, West Indies on 30-Apr.
The governing council has decided to include 2 more franchise for the season 4 to be held in 2011
Ashutosh Gowariker’s mega epic Jodhaa Akbar saw them coming back together and taking their chemistry a step further.
Now they are back together for the third time with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish and if our unit sources are to be trusted then these Bollywood's hottest on screen pair displayed amazing rapport when they got shooting together again.
Though Guzaarish went on floors from July 31st, Ash just recently joined them after coming back from Mani Ratnam’s Ravana shoot. Our unit sources reveal, “There was instant chemistry between the two as they caught up with each other after a long time. From their first shot together, they were right on cue.”
It is learnt that all their shots, which were rather intense, were canned in the first take itself, much to the delight of the director.
And as soon as a dramatic scene would be wrapped up, the two would be cracking up about something they said to each other. "It’s their personal rapport that makes their acting seem so effortless on screen, " our source added.
Apparently Ash had also brought homemade food for the entire unit and was instrumental in making the sets cosy for everyone.
